1w Team defeated Natus Vincere 2–1 in its opening Group B series at BLAST Slam VIII, surviving a match in which large advantages changed hands on the first two maps. NAVI recovered from a deficit of more than ten thousand gold to win the opener. On map two, it was NAVI that built a lead of roughly twenty thousand before two lost fights allowed 1w to take control and force a decider. The final map belonged to 1w after 49 minutes.
The score alone hides why the series was unusual. NAVI’s first-map comeback demonstrated that a substantial economy gap did not end the game. The second map then reversed the roles: NAVI had the stronger financial position, but 1w remained able to contest decisive fights. Two failures in those moments erased the advantage, and NAVI conceded with the series level.
Those swings should not be simplified into a claim that gold did not matter. A large lead expands a team’s options, but it still has to be converted through positioning, vision and objective control. The reviewed reports establish the size of the advantages and the outcomes. They do not provide enough evidence to assign each reversal to one player or one draft decision.

The decider rewarded the final recovery
After trading comebacks, the teams entered a third map with no safe story about momentum. 1w completed the decider in 49 minutes and took the series. That result matters more than which side looked comfortable earlier: Group B progression is decided by completed best-of-three matches, not by the largest temporary lead.
For 1w, the win is also a response to the teams’ recent meeting at PGL Wallachia Season 9, where NAVI won 2–1. The BLAST result does not erase that previous series or establish permanent superiority. It shows that 1w produced the better finish in the new tournament, with a different immediate consequence for the group bracket.
1w now advances to face Team Spirit on September 30 in a match for progression. Spirit began its own BLAST campaign with a 2–1 win over Team Nemesis. NAVI moves to the elimination side and will meet Nemesis, meaning one of the two teams will leave the tournament after the series.
The next assignments demand different preparation. 1w can build on its resilience but cannot assume another opponent will surrender a major lead. NAVI has to correct the conversion problems without losing confidence in the play that created those advantages. The opener showed that both teams could reach winning positions; only 1w managed the series’ final one.
What each team carries into September 30
For 1w, the useful lesson is that patience preserved a path back into map two and that the team closed the decider after the emotional swing. For NAVI, review has to separate creation from execution. Building the second-map lead was evidence that parts of the plan worked. Losing two crucial fights showed that the plan’s conversion stage did not.
BLAST’s group structure gives little time for broad conclusions. The teams return to competition the next day, and both still control a route forward. 1w has earned the more comfortable match, while NAVI faces immediate elimination. Neither outcome is settled by the opening series, but their margin for error is now very different.
- NAVI recovered from a deficit above ten thousand gold to win map one.
- 1w answered after NAVI held an advantage of about twenty thousand on map two.
- 1w won the 49-minute decider and completed a 2–1 series victory.
- 1w will face Spirit, while NAVI meets Nemesis in an elimination match.

| Карта | Critical swing | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| One | NAVI overturned 1w’s large lead | NAVI won |
| Two | 1w punished two lost NAVI fights | 1w won |
| Three | 1w closed after 49 minutes | 1w won the series |
1w’s victory was not a clean march from the first minute; it was a test of who could recover one more time. NAVI produced the first comeback and then lost a map from an even larger advantage. By closing the decider, 1w earned the progression match and pushed NAVI into a must-win series.
