Cake Team eliminated YBN Team from BETBOOM Streamers Battle 15 with a 2–1 victory in the lower-bracket semifinal. YBN won the opening map, but Cake answered in the second game and completed the comeback in a long decider. The result places Kirill “Cake” Zabrodin’s team in the lower-bracket final against Rostik Team, while Fedor “ybicanoooobov” Yurchenko’s lineup finishes fourth.

The series did not follow a simple sweep pattern. YBN controlled the first map and recorded a 40–13 kill advantage in a game lasting a little over 38 minutes. Cake levelled the match in roughly 40 minutes, producing the response required to keep its run alive. The final map then extended beyond an hour and twenty minutes before Cake secured the deciding win.

Those map lengths show how the series changed, but they do not explain every strategic turn. A short account can confirm that YBN started better, Cake recovered and the decider became a much longer contest. It should not invent a single draft error or individual mistake as the cause without a detailed replay analysis or player statement.

The bracket consequence is immediate

Cake Team now meets Rostik Team in the lower-bracket final on October 3. The winner advances to the best-of-five grand final against Daxak Team later that day. Cake must therefore win another elimination series before it can play for the championship, while Daxak waits from the upper side of the bracket.

YBN’s route ends with fourth place and a reported prize of ₽350 thousand. That finish reflects a playoff run that included a win over Stray Team before the loss to Cake. It does not erase the opening-map performance in the elimination series, but tournament placement is determined by completing the match rather than leading its first stage.

The broader format also matters. BETBOOM Streamers Battle 15 began with ten teams divided into two groups. The playoff stage uses double elimination, with best-of-three matches before a best-of-five final. That structure gave both YBN and Cake a route through the lower bracket, but every remaining match carried immediate elimination.

Cake had already beaten Avice Team 2–0 earlier in the lower bracket. YBN entered after defeating Stray Team 2–0. Their semifinal therefore paired two teams arriving from clean playoff wins, even though their group-stage paths differed. The 2–1 outcome is the first result that matters for the next round.

The decider also demanded a different kind of endurance from the first two maps. Its extended duration gave both sides more time to trade objectives and recover from setbacks, but length alone does not identify which decisions settled the game. The reliable takeaway is that Cake remained in contention long enough to convert the final map and the series.

What Cake has earned—and what remains

Reaching the lower-bracket final secures Cake a place in the next LAN-stage match at VK Play Arena in Moscow. It does not secure a grand-final berth. Rostik Team dropped from the upper bracket after losing to Daxak Team and now has the same last chance to stay in the tournament.

Cake can take confidence from reversing the YBN series, particularly after losing the opener. The next opponent presents a different matchup and a new draft problem, so the comeback cannot be carried forward as a map advantage. The confirmed benefit is simpler: Cake survived, gained another series and moved within one win of the final.

  • YBN Team won the opening map before Cake Team took the next two.
  • Cake Team won the completed series 2–1.
  • YBN finished fourth and earned a reported ₽350 thousand.
  • Cake will face Rostik Team in the lower-bracket final on October 3.

Cake Team’s victory is a complete lower-bracket turnaround: an opening-map loss followed by two wins and a place in the next elimination round. YBN leaves BSB 15 in fourth, while Cake’s reward is not yet the final—it is the chance to earn that place against Rostik Team.
